Desalination Powered by Wind and Solar Power

Of all the things we sometimes take for granted in our lives our health; indoor plumbing; even fresh air its water that is becoming the most endangered commodity of all. Headlines from around the world tell a story of water shortages, famine, and disease. Here in the US, Texas, Florida and California, all suffer severe drought and fire. This video provides an overview of the first, ever, floating, autonomous, eco-friendly, and cost-efficient, desalination unit on the planet. The EU commissioned this project and a proof-of-concept. On a special patented floating platform, reminiscent of an off-shore semi-submersible drilling rig, photovoltaic systems and a wind turbine, produce and supply energy to a desalination unit, which uses reverse osmosis to produce potable water from the sea. This award-winning unit was developed as a proof of concept with the European Union and has been in operation since 2007. Approximately 70% of the worlds population lives within 50 miles of shore. The unit can complement existing facilities during drought, aid in fires, tsunami relief, hurricanes, earthquakes and military use. We are looking to bring this technology to market, preferably in the US; however, other regions are also being researched.
