New York Moving Forward in Solar Power

Ulster County is brining a ray of light to the state of New York. Solar Thin Films Inc. , a solar manufacturing company, is set to create a plant in the County. With the development of the facility it is expected that 400 new jobs will be brought in. The company was attracted to New York by The Solar Energy Consortium, a group led by Representative Maurice Hinchey and consists of various scientists and developers. Mr. Hinchey stated, “Today we take another enormous step forward in our goal of establishing the Hudson Valley and all of New York as a national and international hub for solar research and development,” According to the companies head of research Miles Galin, Over 60% of the new jobs created will be manufacturing jobs, and the other openings will be for professional and research positions. This will be a great economy boost for Ulster County
