If you built a solar sail and put it orbit around the sun moving at a speed slower then was needed to maintain a stable orbit. Could the pressure from the solar wind help support the sail and prevent it’s orbit from deteriorating? I quess what I’m wondering is this: Can you "sail" a solar sail like a boat (i.e. tacking and everything) or do you just deploy the sail and watch as it flies off into the outer solar system?
